Zion National Park
The north fork of the Virgin River cuts through the Navajo sandstone forming the Zion Canyon near the Springdale, Utah. It locates in the junction of the Great Basin, Colorado Plateau, and Mohave Desert featuring unique geography and diversity of living creatures.
The Narrows
The Narrows is a 3.6 miles canyon section of the Virgin River between the Riverside Walk Trail and Big Spring. The Narrows hike is mostly hiking in the Virgin River. It was ranked No. 5 of America's Best 100 Adventures by the National Geographic.
Angels Landing
Angels Landing is a 1488 ft. tall rock formation. The 2.4 miles Angels Landing trail is one of the best short hiking trail in National Parks. Chains to grip are provided for portions of the last half-miles to the summit where hikers see the spectacular view of the Zion Canyon. According to the National Park Service, "The route to Angels Landing involves travel along a steep, narrow ridge with support chans anchored intermittently along the route. Footing can be slippery even when the rock is dry. Unevenly surfaced steps are cut into the rock with major cliff dropoff adjacent. Keep off when it is wet, icy or thunderstorms are in the area. Plan to be off before dark. Younger children should skip this trail; older children must be closely supervised."
Lake PowellLake Powell is a reservoir on the Colorado River located between Utah and Arizona. It was created by flooding of Glen Canyon by the Glen Canyon Dam in Arizona. It is named after John W. Powell, an American Civil War veteran and explorer who explored the Colorado River in 1869.
Rainbow Bridge National Monument
Rainbow Bridge, the world's highest natural bridge, is made of sandstone formed during the Triassic and the Jurassic period. It locates at the feet of Navajo Mountain and it can be reached by a mile-long walk from the National Park wharf in Bridge Canyon. Peublo, Paiute and Navajo groups named the bridge Nonnezoshe, "rainbow turned to stone". US president Taft designated Rainbow Bridge a national monument in 1910.
Grand Canyon National Park
North Rim
The 5-mile loop Uncle Jim Trail leads to Uncle Jim Point where the upper portion of the North Kaibab Trail, Roaring Spring, and Bright Angel Canyons could be seen. The 2.4 miles round trip Bridle Trail follows the road connecting the Grand Canyon Lodge and the North Kaibab Trailhead, It follows a ridge line at the end of the Bright Angel Peninsula to Bright Angel Point, which offers a panoramic view of the canyon from its north side.
Pipe Spring National Monument
Located in Arizona, Pipe Spring National Monument is famous for its rich history of Native American and early explorers. It was discovered and named by the Latter-day Saint missionary in 1858 during their expedition to the Hopi mesas. In 1866, the Apache, Navajo, Paiute, and Utes raided Pipe Spring during the Black Hawk War and built a protective fort over the main spring in 1872. Pipe Spring ranch was designed as a nation monument in 1923 to be memorial of western pioneer life.
