Camporee

BSA Rancho San Joaquin District of Orange County Council holds a Camporee annually. It is the chance for scouts and adult leaders from different units to camp and work together. At the Camporee, scouts compete in scouting skills by patrols usually made of six to eight scouts with other troops' patrols. Each patrol has a patrol name, patrol flag, and patrol yell. The Scouts learn from teamwork and graceful competition.

The general schedule of the Camporee is listed below:

• Friday: Check-in in the evening. Scouts pitch the tents. Troop builds the gate and flag pole.

• Saturday: Scouting skills competitions during the daytime. Scouts are free to attend activities like archery and shotgun shooting, campfire, skit competition, cooking competition at evening/night.

• Sunday: Award ceremony, check-out around noon time.

Scouts:

• • Class A uniform (BSA scout uniform). Bring the green scout pant as it is detachable so it works both as long and short pant.

  • Class B uniform (Troop T-shirt)

  • Ten Essentials

  • Pocket knife

  • First aid kit

  • Extra clothing

  • Rain gear

  • Water bottle (1 liter)

  • Flashlight or headlamp

  • Trail food

  • Matches or fire starter

  • Sun protection

  • Map and compass

• Boyscout book

• Notebook and pens

• Folding chair (Adults should bring them)

• Clothing to keep warm at night and early morning, eg. light jacket, layered clothing

• Sleeping bag and sleeping pad (optional but recommended)

• Sunscreen

• Some spending cash ($20 - $40)

• Parent's Permission Form (2 copies each if you haven't turned them in, otherwise just make sure you have a copy with you)
