We are incredibly fortunate to have the generosity of Mr. & Mrs. A, who have graciously offered their Big Bear and Mammoth homes for our use. This is a rare and special opportunity, as no Airbnb would ever allow 25+ young kids to stay in their property! Let’s show our deepest respect and gratitude for their kindness by treating their homes with the utmost care.
To ensure we honor their trust and maintain the privilege of using these amazing spaces, here are some important guidelines to follow during our stay. These rules aren’t just about keeping the house clean—they’re about showing respect, responsibility, and teamwork as a troop. Let’s all do our part to make sure we leave the homes in even better condition than we found them!
House Rules:
You are a guest in someone’s home. Treat it with the same care and respect you would want for your own home. This is not an Airbnb or hotel—it’s a generous gift from Mr. A and Allison.
Bring and use your own sleeping bags, towels, and toiletries. Please do not use any linens, towels, or toiletries you find in the house unless explicitly told otherwise.
Leave bathrooms and common areas spotless. Bathrooms, bathtubs, showers, sinks, trash cans, and toilets must be left exactly as you found them—clean and ready for the next person.
Clean up after yourself. Make the beds, vacuum carpets, mop hard floors, and leave every space as clean (or cleaner!) than you found it.
Wash and put away dishes properly. Check with your troop leadership or ASM if you’re unsure where things go.
Separate trash and recycling. Use the blue containers for recycling and ensure all trash is collected and removed from the house before we leave.
Respect Mr. A’s pantry and fridge. Do not use anything without permission. Check with a scout leader to confirm what belongs to the troop.
Take out the trash and recycling before leaving. In Big Bear, the recycling and trash center is located here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/v9cRcPt3RwxAUJFy5.
Report any accidental damage immediately. If something gets damaged, let Mr. A know right away, and your family will take responsibility for repairs.
A Note to ASMs, SPLs, and PLs:
Your leadership is key to making this a successful and respectful trip. Please keep an eye out and gently remind scouts of these rules as needed. Let’s work together to ensure everyone shows gratitude and respect for the facilities we’re so lucky to use.
Why This Matters:
This is more than just a set of rules—it’s about showing integrity, responsibility, and appreciation. By following these guidelines, we’re not only honoring Mr. & Mrs A's generosity but also setting an example of what it means to be a respectful and trustworthy scout. Let’s make these trips we can all be proud of!
Thank you, everyone, for stepping up and doing your part. Let’s have an amazing time while showing our gratitude through our actions!
