Formed by building Henshaw Dam on the San Luis Rey River at the southeast base of Palomar mountain in 1923, Lake Henshaw is mainly used for agricultural irrigation. It is also known for the abundant amount of large crappies. Canoes and inflatables are not allowed.
Lake Henshaw is less than 2 hours away but relatively secluded. Campsites are first-come-first-serve. Cabins can accommodate 4 adults or up to 6 adults. The resort has a 2-night minimum stay policy.
