2015 Lake Powell Trip Reflections

The next day the scouts divided the work and finished it as some of the scouts started going to the houseboat. After all the work was done, we went to the houseboat and started filling our boats with luggage. We rode our way to a beach where we stopped for the night. I kayaked with Michael S. and tubed on Mr. A’s boat and had a good time.

The second day on the lake was more exiting. We started by doing merit badges. When that was done and the houseboats stopped at a steep beach, we started the first 2 competitions, shooting the ball into the tube and going down the slide.

The third day I caught my first fish with ASM Jack using a pancake ball. Later I missed the boat to my merit badges so I stayed on the Titanic (my boat). We passed lots of cool places and finally arrived to the rainbow bridge trailhead. We hiked to Rainbow Bridge and I captured some videos of Alex. Later that night we talked about scary stories and played cards.

The day before we got off the boat, Jack fished a small crappie out of the lake but it died in the process. So I caught it, skinned it, then gutted it, finally threw it back into the lake. After that we basically just rode the boat back to the marina, had pizza for dinner, and slept near Lee’s Ferry.

When I awoke the next morning, I packed my stuff and went to ASM Edward’s car to drive to the North Rim in the Grand Canyon. Then we slept after a hike we took which was to the top of a mountain looking at a great view.

I would say the last day was good but not that great also. All we did was go to the Grand Canyon Lodge and look at the view on top of the North Rim and drove home. Most of the day was driving home (10 hours), but I still had fun in the car with Alex and Ethan.

Lake Powell was a very fun trip even thought I suffered a few injuries. I would go again except with more fishing gear and another camera battery.

(2) After the long drive is over, we sleep until morning and start doing chores.

(3) About 2-3 hours later we arrive at the marina and start moving luggage into the boat.

(4) We have fun on our boat the Titanic (not a good name) and do competitions.

(5) I caught my first fish (carp) using a pancake after less than 30 min with ASM Jack.
