Mammoth Lakes is a town east of Mammoth mountain. Mammoth mountain is a lava dome complex with 11,053 feet elevation and is also the home of the Mammoth Ski area, the highest ski resort in California. The Ski area is built on the north side of Mammoth Mountain. It has 28 lifts, including 3 gondolas. The Village Gondola uses 15-seat Doppelmayr cabins to transport skiers between the Village and the Canyon Lodge base. Mammoth Mountain also has one of the longest ski seasons in North America, which averages from November to June.
Mammoth is HUGE but has plenty of easier runs. This is the best place you can go short of Colorado. The bottom of Mammoth mountain is the same elevation as the top of Snow Summit of Big Bear Lake.
Memorial Day Weekend: It is the time for Blow Out End of Season Sales in Mammoth!!! We will decide if we want to include mountain biking on this trip at Troop Meeting.

Bring sleeping bags and pads, most of scouts will be on the floor. One adult volunteer will stay in Mr. A's condo with scouts. The rest needs to get separate condo -- Mammoth Mountain Lodging Deals and Packages.

Be ready for cold weather and snow. It can get windy. Storms possible!**Expect snow (and possibly snow storm) condition up in Mammoth. Drivers should prepare chain/cable for their cars. DRIVE CAREFULLY AS MOST DRIVERS ARE NOT USED TO THE SNOWY CONDITION**
Equipment
Snowboarding Clothing Guide (Layered clothing. Goggles, beanie, face-protector, gloves/mittens, heavy parka with hood required) -- you must be really prepared!
You are probably better off renting equipment down here to avoid the crowds on a holiday weekend. Equipment is probably cheaper locally. The Mammoth Mountain rents equipment so you can call them if you want to compare price. Some scouts rented their gears in Mammoth Sporting Goods in the past few years. Mr. A has extra equipments to borrow.
Bring swimsuit and towel for Jacuzzi/sauna.
Food
We’ll have to buy food on the road but we will shop for food for breakfast and dinner. You will buy your own lunch on the mountain.
