Hiking and swimming, two things that we here at Troop 622 love to do, and our bridge to nowhere hike is a perfect place to combine them. Located in the San Gabriel Mountains, we will drive up and start hiking. But, along the hike, we will cross the river many times, so wear old sneakers or water shoes. After hiking 5 miles in, we are able to swim in the river right beneath the bridge. This is a pretty easy hike, and is a day trip, so bring family and friends if you wish. After swimming and eating lunch, we will hike out another 5 miles for a total of 10 miles. Light clothing is recommended and lunch and water have to be brought by the scout. Also include the 10 essentials. For drivers, a adventure pass is required.
*** Every parked car must display an Adventure Pass. Ranger, Sports Chalet, Big 5 (Alton and Culver) or REI (Tustin Market Place) sell them. There's also a Cafe about a mile and a half before the entrance that sells them.**
*** If you or your scout have had any of these symptoms in the last 21 days: FEVER, COUGH, SHORTNESS OF BREATH, DIFFICULTY BREATHING, LOSS OF TASTE OR SMELL, STOMACH UPSET, HEADACHE, FATIGUE, BODY ACHES, RASH, or has TRAVELED IN THE LAST 21 DAYS or been in contact with any COVID-19 CONFIRMED PATIENTS, please do not participate in the upcoming activity.
Due to COVID-19, all participants of troop outings must fill out two consent forms: BSA Activity Consent Form and Troop Consent Form.
Starting from carpooling, all participants must practice safety measures throughout the entire outing, such as social distancing or wearing face masks. Make sure to exercise proper judgement and maintain good personal hygiene, such as bringing hand sanitizer.
*** Scouts' behaviors should be in accordance with Scout Oath and Scout Laws. Horseplay, physical violence, harassment, initiation rites, bullying, theft, verbal insults, ..., are prohibited. It's of the utmost importance that scouts follow instructions, especially during outings. Otherwise scout, not only put himself in danger, he also endangers those around him. Guardians are responsible for their scouts' manners.***
