Starting from carpooling, all participants must practice safety measures throughout the entire outing, such as social distancing or wearing face masks. Make sure to exercise proper judgement and maintain good personal hygiene, such as bringing hand sanitizer.
In preparation of our Sierra backpack, our troop does a three day backpack every year. This year, in addition to our San Gabriel Mountains backpack, our troop will also be hiking Cucamonga Peak, one of the highest peaks in the San Gabriel Mountains. Located in the Cucamonga Wilderness of the San Bernardino National Forest, the peak elevation is 8,862 ft., making this a great practice hike for the high elevation in the Sierras. The weather will be warm during the day and cold at night.
Scouts will reach the campsite on Friday evening. The next morning, scouts will climb the peak (without Backpacks).
