Due to rain in Mt. Baden-Powell area and rain/snow in the Wrightwood area, we are cancelling this weekend's 2 nights backpack. We are still doing the Bridge-to-Nowhere hike on Sunday.
Troop is expanding this hike into two parts: [Cancelled] 2-day Backpacking Group: scouts with backpacking experience will start early on Friday night (4/24) from the other end (Mt. Baden-Powell) and hike the 10 miles to the bridge on Sunday. This excursion could cancel if there is a snow in the area, which we will announce by Thursday.
Day-hiking Group: The rest of the troop will hike in from the Azusa side on Sunday only. After the 5 miles hike, will meet up with first group at the Bridge around 2:00PM. It's 10 miles round trip hiking to "Bridge to Nowhere", lunch and splash to get refreshed, and then 5 miles back.
To fulfill Second Class 5 miles hike you need compass. There would be a compass and map reading before the hiking. If you do the full 10-mile round trip it will count as one of the hikes for the hiking merit badge.

** Every parked car must display an Adventure Pass. Ranger, Sports Chalet, Big 5 (Alton and Culver) or REI (Tustin Market Place) sell them. There's also a Cafe about a mile and a half before the entrance that sells them.**
We need Shuttle Drivers Friday Night. Since the first group are hiking one direction only (not going back to the place they started), we need to drop them off on Friday night. We will need about 3-4 cars to shuttle them. We might need more if more people continue to sign up. The round trip to drop them off takes about 3 hours. It's not far from Mountain High, Wrightwood. It's an easy drive, but it is at night and has some switchbacks toward the end.
Please cooperate in getting an accurate head count. This is the beginning of training for this summer’s Sierra Adventure. Please participate if at all possible.
