-- Aaron S., Second Class, Nov. 2013About 15 scouts have been to the Anza Borrego which all kinds of animals and species thrives in a dessert. And our adventure started like this. Tony, Joseph, and I took a seat in Mr.Tung's car. It took about two hours to arrive in Anza Borrego camp site. When we were about to arrive at the dessert, we stopped at in the middle of the dessert, so unfortunately since the outside is too cold to sleep Tony and I went to sleep in the car, but some others slept outside with their sleeping bag under the star.
On the next day, I woke up in the morning about 9 o'clock and I dressed up in new cloth. Almost everybody was awake and they were all talking, some scouts played with their i-pads, some were still in sleep, and all the adult scouts were taking pictures and discuss their schedule( I think). When everyone was awake and pack their stuff we went to Coyote Canyon for a short hike. Everybody went for a hike with pleasure without knowing what they would experience soon. The trail was plain and it was pretty easy hike, but it was too long! At the middle of the hike, we saw the dead coyote who was just lying in the dessert, and also there were the stream right next to us. Mr.A decided to build a dam with the rocks and the dirt, so that we could block the dirty water flowing on the stream. Although we didn't completely build a dam, but all our collaboration and perseverance made part of the dirty water to be clean. Now we continued to do a hike without Mr.A. We were all looking for Mr.A, but eventually we got lost and we tried to go back where the dam is, but we continued to follow the trail. When we hiked about two hours, we finally found Mr.A and we were all glad to see him. So we decided to go back before we get lost in the dark, Mr.A suggested to go in short cut, but the short cut made me a cut on my whole body and other people suffer with pain because the short cut was full of spiky and sharp leaves, but eventually we went through the hell somehow.
Finally we arrived at the cars, and we went to the camp site where all other scout is waiting.
After we arrived at the camp site, we unpacked our stuff and helped other people to unload the dinner materials and utensils. I had a job to fill the water. But after we filled it we tried to move it with the wagon but the wagon's tire was out of air. So we decided to move it with our bare hand. After setting up, we ate spaghetti and chips for a dinner and it was amazing. After the dinner we played some cards and I slept with Darren, Tony, Daniel, and Joseph.
On the next day we ate bacon and Dutch oven for lunch and breakfast. We finally do a most fascinating activities which is a compass course. Eugene, Tony, and I were the team. Even though we couldn't find the note several times, but we were second place. After that, we did the advancement who need a requirements for their class. So I worked on the Second Class. I learned how to took a first aid who needs on emergency, the map symbols, the safety of the fire, and how to set a fire. After the advancement we all moved to the theater where it exhibits all the interesting facts and all the animals who thrives in Anza Borrego. We also saw the clips which shows how they adapt to their own environment and different seasons. And lastly we hiked about 1.5 miles. Even though it was short hike, we lost frequently and don't even know where the parking lot is. But Mr.A found the trail like it was nothing.
Finally we went to home with relief and with pleasure.
